Stööki Sound and Joker’s North American tour is in full swing [Tour Dates + Event Review]

Stööki Sound are back – and with a bass-driven vengeance. On Friday, April 28, the longstanding trap duo took to Avalon’s main stage in Los Angeles as part of their national Off The Endz tour with legendary bass artist, Joker. Known far and wide for infusing their UK-bred style and sound with minimal yet heavy-hitting beats, Stööki Sound have released song after song that have since been immortalized as global trap anthems.

They’ve stayed busy since their breakthrough in 2013, releasing hit collaborations with Hucci, Troyboi, KRNE, Mura Masa, and Mr. Carmack while traveling the world with their innovative approach to bass music. Therefore, it wasn’t much of a surprise that hundreds of fans were in attendance at Avalon to journey back to the old-school days of trap, grime, and hip-hop.

First to amp up the night was Los Angeles native, Friz and producer on the rise, QUIX. Both were wildly applauded for their impeccable song selection and mixed genre sets. Though being his first time at Avalon, Quix brought forth some serious bass, featuring classics like Skrillex and Nero’s famed “Promises” remix and What So Not’s “Jaguar,” before dropping a slew of new, unreleased tracks. The crowd, dotted with face masks and bandanas, grew wild in excitement at his set’s twists, turns, and bass heavy lean.

Closer to midnight, Stööki Sound took to the stage, encouraged by the wall shaking roar of the crowd. Lasers, lights, LED graphics, confetti cannons and fog machines amplified the infectious energy of their set, which was driven by a soundtrack  festival and trap, UK grime, and some of the duo’s most famous dance floor hits.

Following the duo, Joker followed the headliners with impressive aplomb. The UK dubstep influencer kept the energy rising, playing out his most famous bass heavy hits such as “Midnight” and “My Trance Girl.”  The dark set was a mixture of old and new dubstep and UK grime, shedding light on the old roots of genres, while providing a modern and contemporary twist. Once again, Joker proved to Los Angeles why he is deemed a legend amongst bass enthusiasts.

It was a long night of some serious talent. With their showmanship of versatility and creative punches, both Friz and Quix gained the love of the crowd and tipped hats from industry heavyweights. However, it’s safe to say that Stööki and Joker stole the night, giving LA bass music fans one of the most thrilling local shows of the year thus far in the genre.

Those who missed the set need worry not: Stööki Sound and Joker have fourteen more stops on their North American ‘Off The Endz’ tour.
