Janet Jackson Cried On Stage In Houston

As promised, Janet Jackson performed in Houston at the Toyota Center on Saturday night (Sept. 9). She performed classics like “Rhythm Nation” and “Miss You Much”  and even mixed “Nasty” with Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow”—but on particular song got to the iconic artist.

According to Page Six, at one point Jackson was overcome with emotion while on stage.

Jackson is on the second part of her tour, which she renamed her “State of the World tour” after putting it on hold for her pregnancy. It kicked off two days prior, but something appeared to get to the singer on stage during Saturday’s concert. The moment came after her performance of the song “What About,” from her 1997 album “The Velvet Rope.”

When it was over, she stopped, put her hand over her face and began to cry on stage. It took the 51-year-old singer a moment to compose herself, with the encouragement of her audience, before saying to the crowd, “This is me.”

As E Online notes, the song in question deals with themes of domestic violence. Jackson gave birth to her first child, son Eissa, about nine months ago. Meanwhile, she’s going through a divorce from his father, Wissam Al Mana, after five years of marriage.

We must protect Janet Jackson at all costs.
