On February 28, news of Lady Gaga replacing Beyoncé at Coachella dominated the Internet. However, the eccentric pop artist was not the only new act to join the festival’s roster last week. Today, March 7, Mixmag pointed out that grime icon Skepta has also been slipped into the bill.
The British artist, who won the 2016 Mercury Award over David Bowie and Radiohead for his album, Konnichiwa, will be performing in Coachella’s Sunday lineups. Skepta’s integration into the festival comes after he had to cancel his 2016 appearance because of visa issues – an issue which fellow 2017 performer Sasha faced as well.
Skepta appears on Coachella’s updated flier on the third day, in between techno vanguards Tale of Us and ska group Toots and the Maytals.
